Vasil Levski

Vasil Levski - Born July 6, 1837, Karlovo, Bulgaria. Died Feb. 6, 1873, near Sofia.

Vasil Ivanov Kunchev - Bulgarian revolutionary, national hero, ideologist, strategist and theoretician of the Bulgarian national revolution, leader of the struggle for liberation from Ottoman rule. Initially a monk (1858–64), Vasil Kunchev soon dedicated himself to the work of freeing Bulgaria and for his courage was nicknamed Levski (Lionlike).
