USS Ponchatoula (AO-148)

The USS Ponchatoula (AO-148) was an oiler in the US Navy, based in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii; the flagship and largest of her class. Like all oilers, she was named after an Indian princess. She was commissioned in 1956 and was in service until 1999. She saw service in the Vietnam war; in 1973 she was taken to Guam, overhauled, and refurbished, a process that took about 8 months.
