The University of Alabama in Huntsville

The University of Alabama in Huntsville is a premier university located in the northern Alabama city of Huntsville. Known for its outstanding engineering, optical physics, and sciences programs, UAH also has excellent liberal arts programs, drawing from a pool of award-winning and internationally respected professors.

The beautifully landscaped campus is a fine mixture of high technology and respect for historic buildings, as befits a city that made its name from NASA. UAH is also a NASA Space Grant university; NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center is in Huntsville and makes NASA's technology available to all Alabama institutions of higher education.

Total enrollment is about 7,000, including about 2,400 graduate students; 49 percent women, 51 percent men. UAH incoming freshmen score an average of 25 on the ACT examinations, best among Alabama's public universities.

UAH offers 62 degree-granting programs that meet the highest standards of excellence, including 35 bachelor's degree programs, 17 Masters' degree programs, and 10 Ph.D. programs through its five colleges: Administrative Science, Liberal Arts, Engineering, Nursing, and Science.

UAH is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. At least eight departments or programs also hold accreditation from professional associations, including the American Chemical Society, the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technolology, the Computing Sciences Accreditation Board, the National League of Nursing, the National Association of Schools of Music, and the American Assemby of Collegiate Schools of Business.
