Twin Lakes Township is a township located in Mahnomen County, Minnesota. As of the 2000 census, the township had a total population of 847.


According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 93.3 km² (36.0 mi²). 84.9 km² (32.8 mi²) of it is land and 8.4 km² (3.2 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 8.97% water.


As of the census of 2000, there are 847 people, 241 households, and 185 families residing in the township. The population density is 10.0/km² (25.8/mi²). There are 392 housing units at an average density of 4.6/km² (12.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 9.92% White, 0.59% African American, 86.19% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.24% from other races, and 3.07% from two or more races. 1.42% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 241 households out of which 50.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 38.6% are married couples living together, 27.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 23.2% are non-families. 17.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 7.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.51 and the average family size is 3.90.

In the township the population is spread out with 43.0% under the age of 18, 11.1% from 18 to 24, 22.9% from 25 to 44, 17.1% from 45 to 64, and 5.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 22 years. For every 100 females there are 97.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 88.7 males.

The median income for a household in the township is $26,250, and the median income for a family is $26,250. Males have a median income of $25,000 versus $23,750 for females. Out of the total people living in poverty, 40.8% are under the age of 18 and 15.1% are 65 or older.
