Tupaia

Tupaia was a Tahitian priest and chief with good knowledge of geography and therefore useful in navigation. He also helped to translate some of the Maori language upon landing in New Zealand - Tahitian and Maori were very similar.

Also, Tupaia is a genus of the Tree Shrews (Familiy Tupaiidae (see Tree shrew), Order Scandentia, Class Mammals).
