Trowel

A trowel is either of two similar hand tools.

In gardening, a trowel is a tool with a pointed, scoop-shaped metal blade and a handle. It is used for breaking up earth and for digging small holes, especially for planting and weeding.

A bricklayer's trowel is a flat-bladed too with a handle and flat metal blade, used by masons for leveling, spreading, or shaping substances such as cement, plaster, or mortar, as well as for breaking bricks to shape them or smoothing a mold.

A flat bladed trowel with one edge sharpened is a common tool in archaeology.

The trowel is an important symbol in freemasonry
