Tradewinds game

Be the Captain of your own destiny as you sail from port to port in this seven seas adventure by WildTangent, the makers of Polar Bowler and Blackhawk Striker. In this game you must buy low and sell high to keep the gold pouring in. You will also receive gold for defeating pirates on your trade routes. When you encounter pirates you will have the option to fire on them or flee. If you choose to fire, you will get the first round of attack, if you choose to flee, you will face a randomization of your success based on your amount of cargo on board and random odds of escape. If you fail to flee the opponent will get the first round of attack.

Each port contains a unique variety of businesses. Made up of Banks, Money Lenders, Port Authorities, Marketplaces, Ship Yards and Warehouses. Use the bank to store excess cash you aren’t investing in trade goods, this will protect you from pickpockets who can lift large sums of cash from your purse. The Money Lender is a high interest lender who will lend you as much cash as you already have but make sure to pay it back quickly. Port Authorities will pay out the bounties on wanted Pirates and also tell you of outstanding bounties you can collect on. Do your buying and selling at the Marketplace in no time at all you'll have the gist of the value of merchandise. You can have your ship repaired at the local shipyards and if you have enough cash you can take them up on their offer to sell you a new ship or outfit your existing ships with extra cannons to give you an upper hand at sea. The locals at the Ale House will happily give you tips on when to sell for very high prices and at which port to do so. This will of course, cost you a round of drinks! Use your warehouses to store large quantities of merchandise you pick up at low prices, make sure to hire guards though if you want your warehouse protected while you are out at sea.

You start off with one masted ship and you quickly grow to being the Captain of a large fleet if you play your cards and dubloons right! Defeat renowned Pirates for a hefty bounty from the Port Authority. Reveal mystery locations by defeating larger groups of pirates who are happy to spill secrets to spare their ships.

Some of the things you can buy and sell are: General Merchandise, Silk and Textiles, Arms, and DreamDust. You will have to slay a few pirates before you can afford the more expensive items but in no time at all you'll be filling your warehouse with goods. Be careful though because the Port Authority does random checks on ships as they enter port. Don’t get caught with a cargo full of unsold goods as they will be seized and you will be fined!
