Milton Sirotta

Milton Sirotta,(1929-1???) nephew of American mathematician Edward Kasner.

He is known for coining the word 'googol' in 1938 when he was nine years old. His uncle Edward asked him what name he would have given to a "1" followed by 100 zeros and "googol" was then the answer. Kasner announced the concept in his book Mathematics and the Imagination.

Sirotta is also credited with coining the word googolplex which is ten raised to the power of a googol.

The Internet search engine, Google, was named as a play on the number googol.
