La Pointe-de-l'Île (electoral district)

La Pointe-de-l'Île is the name of a federal electoral district in Quebec, Canada. Its population is 98,878. (2001)

Geography

The district includes the former City of Montreal East, the neighbourhood of Pointe-aux-Trembles, the eastern part of the neighbourhood of Longe-Pointe, and the southern part of the neighbourhood of Tetreauville in the City of Montreal.

History

The electoral district of Mercier was created in 1933 from Maisonneuve and Laval--Two Mountains. The name was changed to La Pointe-de-l'Île in 2004.
