Humanzee

The humanzee is a hypothetical human/chimpanzee hybrid. Humans and chimpanzees share roughly 99% of their DNA, so a hybrid is ostensibly possible. There has been no scientifically verified specimen of a humanzee, although one specimen, a performing chimp named Oliver, was popularized during the 1970s as a possible humanzee.

However, there have been many rumors of hypothetical humanzees that have existed for a while. One rumor was that a female chimpanzee in China was impregnated with human sperm and that the suspect chimp did become pregnant but was killed in the third month when the lab was raided. Yet another rumor concerns the United States. This rumor claimed that again a female chimpanzee was impregnated with human sperm and that the chimp actually went full term with the pregnancy. Unfortunately, the baby was reportedly killed in the fear that the experiment might come to light.

To this day, no "humanzees" have been spotted or been reported to have been born, but the likehood that such a hybrid could be formed is still there.
