Democratic League of Kosovo

Democratic League of Kosovo/Kosova, in Albanian Lidhja Demokratike e Kosovės, is one of the main political parties in Kosovo. The party's president, Ibrahim Rugova, is the current President of Kosovo.

The party describes itself as being modern and democratic, uniting the tradition and future of the Albanians and paving the way towards independence for Kosovo/Kosova. It was formed in 1989 by a group of intellectuals headed by Ibrahim Rugova. The referendum for self-determination of Kosovo/Kosova in 1991 was, among others, organized by the LDK.

The party is presided by a President and three Vice presidents, which are currently Eqrem Kryeziu, Kolė Berisha and Naim Jerliu. It is closely linked to the popular Kosovo daily Bota Sot (The World Today).
