Chiny

Chiny is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Luxembourg and the Gaume region. On January 1st, 2002 Chiny had a total population of 4,866 (2,447 males and 2,419 females). The total area is 113.82 km² which gives a population density of 42.75 inhabitants per km².

Chiny is located in the south of the French-speaking region. The municipality is on the boundary between the region of Gaume and the Ardennes.

Six villages are in the municipality of Chiny :

The blazon of the municipality is composed of three silver trout with a blue background color.

On a historical perspective, Chiny is an old county and was larger than the current municipality.
