Chinua Achebe

Chinua Achebe (born November 16, 1930) is a Nigerian writer.

He attended University College in Ibadan, where he studied English, history and theology. During the civil war, he worked for the Biafran government. He writes in English, and is one of Africa's most acclaimed writers.

Works

The title Things fall apart is taken from William Butler Yeats' poem, The Second Coming.

In 1990 he was paralysed from the waist down in a car accident. He currently teaches at Bard College in Annandale, New York.
