This article is a stub. You can help Wikipedia by [ expanding it].

Barry Kay (1932-1985) was an Australian-born, highly talented and internationally acclaimed stage and costume designer, who predominantly designed for the ballet. Kay was pioneering three-dimensional stage set designs for the ballet in the 1960s, breaking away from the traditional use of "flat wings" scenery. Among others, he designed for Kenneth MacMillan and Rudolf Nureyev and ballet companies such as 'The Royal Ballet', 'The Australian Ballet', 'The Stuttgart Ballet', 'American Ballet Theater'. Later in his career he also became a photographer of subjects with socio-anthropological contents.
