Bamburgh

Bamburgh is a small town on the coast of Northumberland, England.

It is famous for two things: its imposing castle, seat of the former Kings of Northumbria, and at present owned by the Armstrong family (see William George Armstrong); and its association with the Victorian heroine, Grace Darling.

For these reasons, and for its extensive sandy beach, Bamburgh is popular with holidaymakers.

This photograph looks East from the village green towards the castle on its crag. The sea is about 100m behind the castle.

This is a view from the north looking south towards the imposing castle.
